Use Facebook to promote your band

Musicians typically regard MySpace as the social networking site of choice when it comes to promoting their band.

However, rivals such as Facebook are becoming more and more popular with consumers, so it makes sense to incorporate these into your promotional strategy as well.

So firstly, if you have a mailing list, upload it to your Facebook profile and see who has an account on the site. This could be a quick and easy way to get a healthy number of subscribers.

You can then use your Facebook account to send out regular updates of what you are up to, but try to ensure it will be of interest to your fanbase.

Facebook allows you to create invites for specific events, and everyone who receives an invite can see who else has accepted or declined the request.

This could be an ideal way of finding out how many of your regular followers are planning to attend an upcoming gig.

And finally, promote your Facebook page wherever you can, such as on your main website and on fliers and posters.

Not everyone uses MySpace or Twitter, so it makes sense to target as many people as possible by embracing all these different outlets.
