Up and coming songwriters invited to Basca festival

Musicians who compose their own material have been invited to attend a three-day event in October.
The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (Basca) is staging Songfest in London from October 25th 2010, Music Week reports.
This will feature a variety of seminars and opportunities to speak to music industry experts.
Lucy Weston, spokeswoman for Basca, said: "We hope this event will encourage up and coming songwriters to develop their skills and pursue their passion for music."
Iain Archer, a winner of a prestigious Ivor Novello Award, will be among the music luminaries taking part in the event, while Sacha Skabek and Rob Davies will also be sharing their insights with attendees.
People who come to Songfest will then be able to enjoy live performances from unsigned artists on each evening of the event.
This comes shortly after Basca welcomed news that BBC 6 Music would not be shut down, partly because the controversy surrounding the move united the entire music industry.
