Unsigned bands offered showcase on Spotify

Unsigned musicians whose material is distributed through TuneCore could be about to be heard by a much wider audience.
TuneCore has agreed a deal with digital music provider Spotify, which means users of the music streaming site can now listen to artists who are not with a record label.
This could potentially be great news for acts who are hoping to attract more interest in their songs.
Unsigned bands can sign up to the service by paying a yearly fee of £6.68 for each track.
This comes after Tunecore revealed that its artists were paid for the streaming or downloading of more than 65 million songs and albums in 2009.
Rock accounted for 16 per cent of all digital album sales during this period, ahead of other genres such as alternative and hip-hop.
Spotify has recently improved its service by adding a Related Artist tab to its music player, which means unsigned acts could be seen by general music fans who are searching the site.
