Slash: Guitars are cool and sexy

Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has been playing the instrument for nearly 30 years and he remembers to this day the overwhelming emotion he felt the moment he managed to strum notes on it.

Speaking to the Observer, the 45-year-old musician said that guitars are "the coolest and sexiest things ever", stating that they have become such an integral part of his life that one thing he fears the most is that he may lose his arm in an accident and be unable to play.

"I was overwhelmed the first time I put three notes together that sounded how they were meant to sound," he stated.

Slash also went into detail about the ups and downs of his career, highlighting the battles he faced with drink and drug problems and the glory years with Guns N' Roses.

When asked about his biggest achievement, he said that what he is most proud of is surviving in the music industry for as long as he has.

Even though Slash has been playing the guitar since he was a teenager, he still needs to practice, just like every other guitarist.

That is the view of Brian Adams, who told Music Radar recently that no mater how talented one is, practice is always required if they are to maintain that level of excellence.
