Schools to offer 'quality music education'

Schoolchildren from every background are to get access to quality music education, it has been claimed.
Michael Gove, the secretary of state for education, has revealed £82.5 million will be allocated to music services in England in the next 12 months.
It comes after Darren Henley - managing director of Classic FM - completed a review into music in schools and said steps need to be taken to ensure it is not only wealthy kids who get access to high-quality instruction.
Mr Gove noted: "Music has the power to touch the soul. It is a universal language understood by people of every culture and it gives us all the chance to be transported by beauty."
He added every young person in the country should be able to learn an instrument.
The Incorporated Society of Musicians said it was delighted by the commitment shown by Mr Gove and the government in announcing this funding.
