Producer records Black Dub album in living room

As music producer Daniel Lanois has highlighted how his new band Black Dub made their debut album at his LA home, aspiring artists may want to consider investing in home recording equipment of their own.
Speaking to Music Radar, Lanois - who has worked with numerous artists including Bob Dylan and Brandon Flowers of The Killers - notes that the group recorded their self-titled album in his living room.
And Lanois, who plays guitar and sings on the album, indicates that Black Dub went for a raw approach during the recording process.
"There was no monkey business. No separation, no overdubs, nothing," he states. And while many of the songs that made the album were recorded in a single take, he claims that "it helped that we were nicely balanced acoustically in the room".
By following in Lanois' footsteps and investing in a home recording studio, bands may find they are able to avoid the expense of renting out private facilities and not have to spend time travelling potentially long distances in order to record new tracks.
