Pro drummer Tony Allen reduces rehearsals but plans to 'go on and on'

Pro drummer Tony Allen is proof that there is no reason why people cannot continue playing the drums well into their twilight years.
The Nigerian Afrobeat legend has spoken to the Yorkshire Evening Post about how he has managed to extend his music career into his 70s.
Allen said his experience means he does not need to practise every day and he instead gets behind his drum kit around once per week to keep his skills sharp.
"I'm attempting to go on and on," Allen commented.
Speaking about how he developed his distinctive drumming style, he added: "I am a drummer generally. Afrobeat I developed later to be like myself, to not be like others."
Allen is known for his work with the late Fela Kuti's band in the 1970s.
In more recent times, he has collaborated with Blur frontman Damon Albarn on his project The Good, The Bad And The Queen, which also featured Clash bass guitar player Paul Simonon.
