Piano players 'have to love classical music'

Posted by Jamie Franklin
It is important for people learning the piano to have a good understanding of classical music.
Professor Valentin Bogdan, music professor at Arizona Western College, told the Yuma Sun it is imperative individuals are reintroduced to the genre.
He added: "Right now we are losing the battle to keep classical music alive."
As well as helping people while trying to study the piano, Professor Bogdan observed it can also benefit them in other areas of their life.
Skills picked up in music classes can then be adapted to help them with their future careers, he stated.
Professor Bogdan noted practice is essential in order for a piano player to stay at the top of their game, adding: "As a musician you have to be very committed."
In a recent interview with the Irish Times, retired head of the Royal Irish Academy of Music John O'Conor said learning how to play the piano can be a very enjoyable pastime.
