MySpace to start selling concert tickets

MySpace is planning to raise its profile in the music industry even further by selling concert tickets.
The social networking site already offers numerous services such as music streaming, videos and profiles for unsigned and established artists.
It is currently working on expanding its range of services by enabling fans to purchase merchandise and gig tickets through the site.
Owen Van Natta, chief executive of MySpace, commented: "Consumers want an experience that includes their audio, their video, their band information, their merchandise and ticketing information all in one experience."
Speaking to BBC News, he said this type of "multi-dimensional music experience" will create multiple revenue streams.
"It won't just be advertising-supported," Mr van Natta said.
MySpace's online digital music service - MySpace Music - went live in the UK early last month.
The social networking site claims that this is the most comprehensive catalogue of audio tracks and music videos available on the internet.
Indeed, it includes content from the major record labels, indies and unsigned artists.
