Musicians can get paid 'a number of different ways'

Posted by Jamie Franklin
Individuals looking to make money in the music industry can utilise a number of different opportunities to do so.
According to the Future of Music Coalition (FMC), there are 32 ways that artists can get themselves cash, Digital Music News reports.
It is now going to conduct a survey of people in the sector to find out which ones are the best in terms of revenue.
Among the options available to performers are royalties, including those generated from both public and digital performances.
Other obvious revenue streams are retail and digital sales, while advances also offer musicians the chance to get cash.
People can also use the knowledge they have accrued to make sure they get paid, such as working as a music teacher or becoming a session instrumentalist.
Alternatively, they can go down the producing route and steer the direction of their wages in that way.
The FMC hopes once the report is finished, it will show how revenue streams are changing across the board.
