Liverpool Music Week gets underway

Emerging acts who want to make it in the music industry are taking part in a showcase event in Merseyside.

Liverpool Music Week is running for its seventh year and will feature hundreds of bands performing in 20 venues over a two-week period.

Guitar player Seasick Steve, who uses a Roland Cube Street amp on stage, will be among the more famous names taking part, along with fellow Roland gear users The Specials.

Other established acts on the bill this year include Kasabian, Super Furry Animals, The Enemy and the Brand New Heavies.

Liverpool Music Week got underway yesterday and will continue until November 16th 2009.

Organisers have hailed it as a "festival that sets the precedent and continues to attract and inspire new music".

This follows the recent In The City event in Manchester, which included gigs from more than 150 emerging bands and debates on timely issues in the music industry.
