Singer-songwriter James Blunt has revealed he likes to write songs that mean something to him.
Speaking to Music Radar, the performer noted he does not think he would be able to pen a tune that was "superfluous".
Blunt added he likes to keep things basic whenever he is working on new material, adding: "My approach is to write the song, record it simply and have it so that I can remember it for when we go into a proper studio."
Aspiring musicians may be interested in this comment, as it is a process that could prove valuable to them in trying to make the best album possible.
The You're Beautiful singer - who used to be in the army - noted he would like to improve his electric guitar playing so he can take his live shows to the next level.
But, Blunt added people have to be prepared to change everything once they enter into the studio.
