Government considers clampdown on suggestive videos

Musicians could be affected by a proposed clampdown on pop videos with sexually suggestive lyrics and imagery.
The Home Office recently commissioned an independent review into the sexualisation of young people, which was conducted by psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos.
According to the report, broadcasters should be required to ensure that music videos containing suggestive or provocative content are only broadcast after 21:00.
If such a policy comes into effect, it could potentially reduce an artist's exposure among the lucrative youth market.
Home secretary Alan Johnson has welcomed the report and said the government will now consider its recommendations in more detail.
"Changing attitudes will take time but it is essential if we are going to stop the sexualisation which contributes to violence against women and girls," he commented.
This comes after the Duchess of Cornwall criticised rap videos for sexualising young people, before saying she cannot understand how the music industry can "get away with making those things".
