Experiment to enhance synth sounds

If you are recording with a synthesizer, you may be tempted to make the most of the vast range of sounds it offers.

But did you know you could go even further?

There is no reason to simply use off-the-shelf sounds, as your studio might have plenty of devices, such as personal monitor mixers, that can take your instrument to a new level.

Why not experiment with different types of amps and amp settings to vary your favourite synth sounds?

You could add a little distortion and see what this does to them.

Or maybe try experimenting with a variety of mic-set ups to get a different effect when you are recording.

Synths may come with a wide variety of digital effects, but natural recording methods such as these can really bring them to life.

It gives the resulting song lots more body and texture and shows that the musician and producer has really thought about the track, rather than just gone for a standard recording option.
