Drum lessons 'could suit teens'

Posted by Helen Whitten

Parents that have noticed their teenage offspring becoming increasingly interested in music may consider investing in lessons to help their youngsters start learning guitar, drums or piano.

That is according to a correspondent for the Daily Telegraph who responded to a reader's question about a 14-year-old who longs to join a band.

"This could be a good opportunity to start a new hobby and learn a skill for life," the contributor said, adding that a sound-proofed garage could prove useful for anyone considering buying a set of beginner drums.

Alternatively, investing in electronic drums can help keep noise levels to a minimum as it is possible to plug in headphones and play without disturbing others nearby.

Half-hour sessions of tuition may be enough for amateur musicians, while some schools may encourage youngsters to work towards classical grade exams during their early days.

Teenagers keen to emulate their favourite rock or pop stars might want to learn some of their signature tracks - buying sheet music could satisfy their need, as could encouraging them to watch tuition videos on the internet.  ADNFCR-2724-ID-800315612-ADNFCR
