Don't forget the basics when setting up home recording studio

Musicians have a lot to consider when they are setting up a home recording studio, such as how many tracks they need, the acoustics of the room and what kind of mics to use.
But with all these different issues to address, it can be very easy to overlook some of the most basic requirements of all.
For instance, you will be likely to have a lot of cables around if you create a home recording studio, but do you know what each one is for?
Use labels or a colour code to ensure the purpose of each cable is clearly designated, and keep them stored in the same place so you know what goes where.
This advice applies to every piece of equipment you own - if you know what each item is for straight away, that's one less thing to lose time worrying about.
Another key requirement is making your recording space ergonomically sound. After all, you could do yourself harm if you are sat in an uncomfortable seat for hours on end.
And try to have everything stored in easy reach of your adjustable stool or chair, so you can be comfortable and productive at the same time.
