Digital record label to be launched
Category: Getting started
Artists who are getting started in music are being offered the opportunity to distribute their material via the internet.
Record producer and musician Liam O'Shea is currently gearing up to launch his own record label in 2010.
O'Shea is well known in the music fraternity in his home city of Sheffield, as he has staged live events to support local musicians.
Although he has not confirmed what sort of artists he will sign to his company, he told the Sheffield Telegraph it would be a "digital label".
O'Shea said: "It's all moving forward.
"It's generating its own momentum."
Earlier this year, O'Shea hosted the Mixed in Sheffield 2 event, which he credited with helping to bring the city up to speed with other music hubs such as Manchester.
He described Sheffield as a city with a "self-deprecating modesty", which he said is apparent in the lyrics of many of the city's emerging artists.
Sheffield is perhaps best known for producing acts such as The Human League and the Arctic Monkeys.
