Cleaning a guitar 'can improve its tone'

Posted by Martyn Hopkins

Professional guitarists looking to improve the tone they get from their instrument should make sure they regularly clean it.

This piece of advice was given in the Gibson Lifestyle blog, which noted smoke, dirt, perspiration and grease can all contribute to reducing the sound quality.

According to the news provider, failure to keep the device in tip-top shape can have a long-lasting detrimental effect on it.

And everybody knows there is nothing worse than a guitar that isn't achieving the kinds of sounds and riffs it is capable of.

"Ideally, you should clean your guitar each time you change the strings. With your strings off, you have much better access to your fretboard," the posting stated.

For those who take a lot of pride in how their guitars look, taking a bit of polish to it four of five times a year will ensure that it always looks its best.
