Budding guitarists 'should concentrate on having fun'

While guitarists with aspirations of a life as a professional musician are likely to be keen to practice regularly, one artist has noted that they also need to have fun while they play.
Speaking to Guitar International, Cray - who has played with the likes of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Eric Clapton - points out that guitar players should not be too hard on themselves on their path to a full-time career in music, "so that you get frustrated by the process".
"Having fun is the most important thing when someone's trying to make it in the industry," he states, advising up-and-coming guitarists should concentrate on enjoying themselves and making people happy.
It may also be an idea to join forces with other guitarists in order to get inspiration, as Cray claims that playing together with others "is a really good thing to do".
Speaking to the publication in July, guitarist Orianthi - who used to be in Michael Jackson's band - revealed that she likes musicians that "have their own passion and unique style", noting she is a fan of the likes of Jeff Beck and Steve Vai.
