Blinx creates one-stop shop for music videos
Videos could be set to become an even more important part of music promotion following the launch of a new online resource.
Search engine blinkx has unveiled what it claims is the most comprehensive source of music videos on the internet.
The new blinkx Music service allows people to search for videos from every genre from a single location.
Suranga Chandratillake, chief executive and founder of blinkx, said there are now so many music videos available on the web today that is almost impossible to navigate them all.
"We recognised there was a need to help organise music videos and make them easily searchable on the web," he commented.
The blinkx Music service will include both modern acts and hits from the past, with material from more than 10,000 artists.
This comes after video sharing website YouTube, which was bought out by Google three years ago, announced that it now receives more a billion hits each day.
