Be flexible with drum set-up to avoid RSI

Drummers often find themselves experiencing repetitive strain injury (RSI), as the nature of the instrument depends on the repeated use of all four limbs.
This can potentially be a huge problem for a touring band, as they have lots of upcoming commitments that the drummer needs to be fit and ready for.
However, some acts have come up with creative solutions to reduce the chances of getting RSI.
Not using the same drum set-up gig after gig is one good option to consider, as it means the pressure on certain parts of the body will be eased on some nights.
It also forces the drummer to stretch themselves in a musical sense and potentially develop or hit upon a new technique.
In addition, it reduces the chances of a drummer's brain going on autopilot during a performance, as they will be in less of a set routine.
So while a massage may be a more luxurious way of keeping on top of muscular strains and RSI, this could be a good option for those who live and breathe music.
