Aspiring musicians offered new development opportunities
Category: Getting started
Young people who are aiming for a career in music are being offered the chance to apply for new development opportunities.
Advanced musical training will be provided to aspiring Welsh musicians as part of the HRH Prince of Wales Advance Study Awards in Music.
The scheme, which has been running for four years, provides funds to allow young people to study their area of expertise at postgraduate level.
Applicants who receive the award will be able to commence their studies in the next academic year.
According to the Arts Council of Wales, this represents an excellent opportunity to help young musicians achieve their potential.
Chief executive Nick Capaldi said: "Having been a musician myself, I know just how important it is to provide development opportunities for aspiring professionals as they begin planning their future careers."
People who want more information on the scheme have been advised to contact Einion Dafydd of the Arts Council of Wales at Einion.Dafydd@artswales.org.uk.
Winners of the 2009 awards went on to a wide variety of studies in various prestigious institutions, including London's Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
