Product marketing specialist: guitar, drums, piano

Field based

We’re looking for a field-based product specialist to manage three of our highest-profile product groups. A guitar player first and foremost, the ideal candidate would also have some experience with drums and piano. The job is all about raising the profile of these product groups and ensuring they achieve targeted sales each month. This is done through a wide variety of activities, including dealer visits and training, press and artist relations, marketing & customer engagement, market and competitor analysis and providing support to Roland’s sales and European product management teams. We’re seeking someone who is familiar with the industry, commercially-minded and a great communicator, as well as being knowledgeable about music technology in general. Product Specialist – Roland Planet, Roland UK
Reporting to: Senior Area Manager MI

The Company: Roland (UK) Ltd

Roland is a world leader in design, manufacture and distribution of electronic musical instruments including keyboards & synthesisers, guitar products, electronic percussion kits, digital recording equipment, amplifiers and audio processing devices.

Roland Planets are a retail arm of Roland UK. A Roland Planet is an area manned by a Roland Product specialist, located in leading musical instrument retailers to demonstrate and sell Roland and Boss products.

The Position:

The person we are seeking has the ability to be an accomplished sales person/demonstrator of musical instruments.

The person will be the sole Roland representative in the store, and will therefore be involved in many aspects of running a successful retail business.

Key Duties:
  • Dealing with a large cross section of customer enquiries
  • Demonstrating and selling Roland and Boss products
  • Following up sales leads
  • Offering technical support for customers of the Roland Planet
  • Managing and maintaining the Roland & Boss areas
  • Completing reports
  • Working closely with other store staff to maximise Roland and Boss sales
  • Run promotional events throughout the year
Key Attributes
  • Punctual & reliable
  • Excellent communicator both on the telephone and face to face
  • To have a strong interest and understanding of Hi-tech products
  • The ability to play/use competently two of the following:-
    • Piano/Keyboard
    • Drums
    • Guitar
    • Recording/Production equipment (computer based recording)
  • Polite, helpful and an active listener
  • Someone who has the ability to put customers at ease
  • A persuasive nature & the ability to think on your feet.
  • Competent computer skills. An organised person who is used to sending reports and is able to use the internet and send/receive emails.
  • A clean and well organised person who would successfully plan their time to maintain and manage the Roland displays.
  • Has ability to work with management of store to grow business for the future
  • Enthusiastic manner & passionate about music.

Roland (UK) Ltd is responsible in the UK and Ireland for the one of the world’s best-known musical instrument brands. 

Based in Swansea, and handling sales, marketing and distribution, we supply over 300 independent music stores with Roland and Boss products. We manage our own retail operations within existing music shops across the country and also exhibit at a variety of music and consumer shows throughout the year.
