The V-Drums World Championship sees 16 contestants from around the globe battle it out for the title of V-Drums World Champion. It’s not just about drumming ability; it’s about creating a breathtaking, musical performance by harnessing the power of V-Drums and percussion.
The second V-Drums World Championship culminated in a live final, held in Frankfurt, Germany at the prestigious Südbahnhof venue, a frequent stop for many of the world’s touring artists.
Throughout 2012, local ‘heats’ were held in each of the competing nations, with just one winner in each country going through to the live final, scheduled to coincide with the 2013 MusikMesse music trade show.
The final event was an intense battle with powerhouse performances and an incredible display of drumming talent and musical creativity from all over the world. Each contestant had just 5 minutes to wow the judges, comprising a panel of international artists and music industry press, with their performance.
UK finalist Geoff Fry, impressed with his mix of impressive chops and showmanship, while his musical performance fused contemporary dance beats with traditional folk, a nod to the rich tapestry of musical influence that exists within the UK.
Canada’s Issah Contractor went on to win the overall title with his innovative use of the the TD-30KV’s sequence pattern player, triggered by his impeccable double-kick technique.
