Along with developing innovative products that sound the best, Roland brings music to more people. It is a way Roland can contribute to making this world a better place. The Roland Foundation was established for this express purpose. Music schools in and outside Japan were opened to educate the public about how to play and appreciate music. Roland also sponsors concerts that cover rock, jazz, classical and many other genres as well as contests to promote electronic musical instrument use. Because Roland business is international, there has been regular participation in the two biggest musical instrument tradeshows in the world-the NAMM Show and the Frankfurt Musikmesse. Recent product direction has also made it important to have a Roland presence at various computer and electronics-related fairs. The annual International JV (Joint Venture) Meeting provides a forum for all Roland members to exchange regional market information and strategies that prove valuable for promoting sales in respective markets.
The U.S.'s biggest musical instrument trade show, the NAMM Show is held in the winter and summer of each year. The Winter NAMM in Los Angeles is especially large-scale, attracting over 1,200 exhibitors and many visitors from around the world. The Roland booth each year displays new products coupled with exciting product demonstrations to always attract much visitor attention and garner many important leads.
Held every spring in Frankfurt, Germany, this fair for the trade and public is easily the biggest of its kind in Europe with nearly 2,000 exhibitors. Roland consistently has one of the biggest exhibits there as part of its efforts to maximize global business opportunities.
The most important electronic media show takes place annually in Las Vegas. In 2001, Roland exhibiting as Edirol, joined some 1,400 exhibitors from over 140 countries around the world. The Edirol booth showed new digital video editing products that interested many of the 100,000 show visitors and raised Edirol brand awareness in the digital video industry.
Every spring and autumn senior executives and sales managers from Roland joint ventures worldwide attend this meeting in Hamamatsu, Japan. The extensive agenda covers the presentation of new products and technologies, regional sales reports, Roland's management directives, and many other topics. Along with much useful information, the meeting aids in fostering more communication and stronger ties between the international Roland Group members.
This festival is proving popular among the general public as it provides an opportunity to appreciate authentic organ sound and fascinating performances of classical, theatre and home organs, played by internationally renowned organists.
